Built nearly 600 years ago, the Castle is commonly known for the famous Blarney Stone which is believed to be one half of the stone of Scone, which was given by Robert the Bruce to Cormac McCarthy in 1314 for his support in the Battle of Bannockburn. The Blarney Castle estate also offers a chance to admire the beautiful Blarney Castle Gardens which include extensive gardens and an Arboretum surrounding the Castle and House.
Next, your tour continues to the nearby Blarney Woollen Mills, built in 1823! Originally used mainly for spinning and weaving wool, the mill now serves as an Irish heritage shop. While here, you’ll enjoy a leisurely stroll around with opportunities for some shopping and free time to sit down and enjoy lunch on your own. The last part of your day will be spent enjoying the wonderful Cork countryside and the charming town of Kinsale, famous as Ireland’s gourmet capital.
