Start your day by meeting your friendly guide/driver by the cruise dock head out on a beautiful, scenic ride along the lush Yucatan landscape. Your first stop of the day will be the incredible Uxmal Ruins, one of the most complete displays of Mayan culture you’ll find anywhere! Escorted by your tour guide, you’ll explore this ancient site firsthand. Using special ramps and access paths, you’ll admire the beautiful Mayan structures spread over approximately 1 mile of rolling/walking. Among them, you’ll see the Pyramid of Adivino with its Plaza de los Pajaros, the Quadrangle of the Nuns, the Ball Game, the Govenor’s Palace, the Great Pyramid and El Palomar. The most famous and impressive structure in Uxmal is La Casa del Adivino, a unique elliptical shape that is more than 35 meters high! Your tour guide will share the intriguing history of this site with you. You’ll hear the fascinating legends about how it was built and capture some beautiful photos here. The city that is now the ruin site of Uxmal was abandoned around 1080 AD, shortly after the end of the Classic period in the south.

After your visit here, you will make a stop at an accessible restaurant for a chance to relax and enjoy some delicious food (cost not included).

Next, your tour continues to the popular Cocoa Museum, located just next to Uxmal. This beautiful site is a showcase of native plants and wildlife to Yucatan, including cocoa ceiba, achiote, balche jabin, Jaguars and spider monkeys. Inside the museum, you’ll experience an illustration of how chocolate is prepared using one of the oldest Mayan recipes. You’ll also enjoy a freshly brewed drink, mixed with ingredients of your choice. In the special exhibition of “the Maya and cocoa” you will learn about the unique relationship between the ancient culture with the fruit, and also how it has been used throughout time. There will be opportunities to purchase cocoa and other special local delicacies here.
